OTHER Obama LIES Point To Intentional Deception
In a 2010 Daily Caller article, Lies, damned lies and health care, Scott Wheeler, investigative journalist and author ofPromoting Decline: Obama vs. Americawrote that President Obama lied about insurance companies in his campaign to sell Obamacare.
Wheeler wrote about a speech Obama delivered at George Mason University where he stated that under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) insurance companies would not be able to cancel an insured’s coverage when they have a claim. Obama falsely implied that insurance companies were doing this. “This year, they will be banned from dropping your coverage when you get sick. Those practices will end,” he declared.
When Obama delivered this mendacious remark, one that he delivered countless times, it was illegal in all fifty states for insurance companies to cancel an insured’s coverage for getting sick. It had been illegal for twenty years.  Indeed, insurance policies were guaranteed renewable as long as the insured person paid the premium.
In another bold faced piece of deception, delivered during that same speech, Obama stated, “They will continue to jack up premiums 40 percent or 50 percent or 60 percent, as they have in the last few weeks without any accountability whatsoever.”
The truth was that in more than half the states, insurance companies were strictly accountable to the state in which they operated and were forbidden from raising rates without specific approval. Furthermore, insurance companies were barred from raising a policy holder’s premium without first raising the premium for the entire underwriting category to which that person belonged.
“Why then,” Wheeler asks, “are insurance companies now dropping insurance policies? Why are they doing it now, after Obamacare? And why are premiums, not to mention deductibles, going up under Obamacare? And what happened to the deficit saving? And when will Obama be signing up for the Obamacare for himself and his family?
Wheeler wonders what else the President lied about or perhaps, like former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, he just didn’t read the bill. Pelosi famously said: But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it."
