Cuban Refugee Blasts Oregon Gun Control Proposal
Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, applauds the testimony of Manuel Martinez who passionatelyspoke out at an Oregon hearing over proposed gun control legislation.
Martinez, a political prisoner who escaped from a Communist Cuban prison in 1962, testified:
"Don't sell me this. A very powerful man tried to sell me this 50-something years ago, I didn't buy it.”
“This is Marxism, plain and clear… They had this dog and pony show where they said hey.. We’re going to protect you. But what they did
was to enslave a country. They destroyed a country the same way that this country is going to be destroyed if we continue with this plan.”
The proposed Oregon gun control legislation would expand background checks to every private gun transfer. The Oregon lawmakers proposing this new law apparently assume that criminals will submit to such background checks.
We ought to heed the warning of Manuel Martinez who lived through the horrors of a society that confiscated all firearms and enslaved its own people by creating the most brutal and oppressive regime in the history of the western hemisphere.
