Is 2014 the Year of God?
Marius Forte, author of The Answer: Proof of God in Heaven concurs with Washington Times columnist Joseph Curl who predicts that “2014 is going to the year of God” in his recent column “God making a Comeback in Hollywood.”
Indeed an inordinately large number of movies with religious themes will be released this year including:
- “Son of God," released last month.
- “God’s not dead,” featuring Willie Robertson of "Duck Dynasty fame," to be released late March.
- “Noah,” a mega budget blockbuster, also to be released late March, starring Russell Crowe and Emma Watson.
- “Heaven is for real,” to be released in April.
- “Left Behind," to be released in June.
- “Exodus” to be released in December, starring Christian Bale.
- “Mary, Mother of Christ,” planned Release 2015.
- Rumors of a "Cain and Abel" movie starring Brad Pitt.
Forte, an international executive who witnessed the effects of Communism as he grew up near the border of the Iron Curtain in his native Austria, notes that Hollywood is responding to the yearning by young people for meaning in life as increasing numbers are becoming aware of the bankruptcy of the old and regressive ideas that Obama represents. Many of the young put their hopes in Obama in 2008 as they believed his demagoguery calling for some vague notion of “change.”
Now they are seeing the change as they are pushed to join Obamacare and as they experience the fallout of chronic unemployment brought about by high taxes, anti-business regulation and the looming effects of a crushing national debt. Young people resent the old form of big government as the Federal Government takes over health-care, education in the form of the Common Core curriculum, and as the Feds snoop on phone conversations and the internet.
The young are not buying Obama’s socialism, which holds that natural rights are privilages granted by the State to those who find favor. They would prefer to get out of their parents homes, get married, get a meaningful job and find their own way as self-sufficient citizens. They want to be free to create and define their own lives without the onerous burden of big government and they are increasingly looking to a higher authority for meaning as opposed to the tender ministrations of the authoritarian state.
Hollywood is reflecting the culture and this is why Obama and his big government edifice, with its welfare recipients, over-stuffed public sector and crony capitalists who suck the vitality out of the freedom oriented sovereign citizen have gone out of style.
More young people are waking up to the rights recognized in the Declaration of Independence which notes that we the people are “endowed by the creator with inalienable rights” and not by the state. Hollywood reflects a culture that is waking up to the source of rights which is God and not the State.
