“Law Enforcement Divisions” now include US Postal Service

Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and the Founder of the Second Amendment Foundation joins a chorus of civil libertarians on both the left and right who are concerned over the proliferation of “Law Enforcement Divisions” as part of federal agencies. Equally concerning, notes Gottlieb, is the growing number of local police departments receiving military grade supplies and Swat training.
The most recent member of the police state is the U.S. Postal Service. The USPS Supplies and Services Purchasing Office asked contractors to register on the Federal Business Opportunities website  as potential ammunition suppliers.
The USPS joins the ranks of a growing list of federal agencies. Since 2001, the  U.S. Dept. of Education has been building a massive arsenal through purchases orchestrated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recently purchased 72,000 rounds of .40 Smith & Wesson, following a 2012 purchase for 46,000 rounds of .40 S&W jacketed hollow point by the National Weather Service.
