Second Amendment Foundation Founder congratulates Gov. Rick Perry of Texas

Gov. Rick Perry really gets it, notes Alan Gottlieb, founder of the Second Amendment Foundation, responding to the news that the Texas Governor has approved a $300.000 Texas Enterprises Fund investment grant in the Eagle Pass manufacturing facility of Maverick Arms.

Maverick Arms is a subsidiary of the Mossberg Corporation, America's oldest family owned firearm manufacturer. The company has committed $3.4 million toward expanding the Texas facility.

Iver Mossberg, CEO, commented that "Investing in Texas was an easy decision. Its a state that's not only committed to economic growth but also honors and respects the 2nd Amendment and the firearm freedoms it guarantees to our customers."

Governor Perry's office noted that the TEF investment in Maverick Arms, besides contributing toward the creation of 50 new jobs and economic opportunity in Eagle Pass, reaffirms Texas "longstanding support of the Second Amendment."

This grant is more than symbolic in Texas, notes Gottlieb, as it comes at a time when the Federal Government has opened the flood-gates to illegal aliens crossing over into Texas. Many Texans are concerned, notes Gottlieb, that a criminal element, including possible drug cartel members who might have access to illegal weapons, might take advantage of an opportunity to get into Texas.

Most Texans understand, observes Gottlieb, that this is a situation which calls for highlighting the importance of the Second Amendment recognition of the right to keep and bear arms.   .
